Early Years Connect - September issue
This year, I’m happy to welcome colleagues across kindies to EY Connect :) If it can evolve into a platform where educators across different schools share resources and practices, how exciting that would be! This month, some of the thinking points include:
- Simple questions to nudge thinking and extend conversations
- Research on how children learn better when they “do science”, rather than “be scientists”
- Play invitations
- Mindful body scans (for both adults and kids!)
Check out the September issue here.
Student Support Services
Cathy McSweeny, ESF Adviser - Student Support Services, will be visiting on Thursday 14 September to start observing our learning diversity students. Her visit will be an opportunity for her to gain a deeper understanding of the students in their learning environment. As well as to understand their current strengths and stretches, and to provide advice. Please find more details about the observation process here. She also plans to visit on 11 October for any children she is unable to see on 14 September.
She will split her time between the K2 & K1 floor. The focus of her Kindergarten visit will be around:
- Children recommended to put in a Year 1 LS application
- Support to clarify thinking around students who may need to proceed with an ARP application
- Support teachers and Learning Diversity students, where needed
Flu Shot
The flu season is approaching, and there's definitely a bug going around as I know a few of us are down with it already! ESF has arranged an on-site Flu Vaccination Program for all ESF full-time and part-time staff. The flu shot will take place on Friday, 6 Oct 2023 from 11:50 to 12:50 in the G/F office. If you are interested, please register online via the HR newsletter.
