Unwell Children at School
FYI - I've sent out a separate App message reminding parents to keep sick children at home. Key points:
- The well-being of the children and our community is a shared responsibility.
- Parents are urged to keep their children at home if they are not feeling well and to allow them to recover fully. (Even though they appear energetic despite feeling under the weather.)
- Unwell children will be sent home to rest and recover.
- Parents should ensure that their child's symptoms have completely subsided before returning to school.
Please reinforce this by sending children home if they have symptoms or seem out of sorts.
Student Grant Forms
The Hong Kong Education Bureau (EDB) announced the new Student Grant Scheme. The government's Student Grant Scheme applies to every student attending a Secondary, Primary, or Kindergarten school in Hong Kong, making them eligible for a HK$2,500 grant payment.
- For parents who applied for the grant last year (returning K2 families), EDB will issue a Hillside-specific form (Form B), and we will distribute these to parents once they arrive.
- For parents applying for the first time, K1 families or any brand new K2 families. They can download the blank EDB form for submission.
Please keep an eye out for these grant forms and bring them down to the “Student Grant Collection Box” in the reception for Karis to process.
Professional Reflection & Development (PRD)
You would have seen the Oracle PRD in the recent HR Newsletter. An ebook has been written as a guide to support the use of the Oracle PRD platform. The book consists of two sections. The First Half - PRD Philosophy and the Second Half - "How To". You might win a coffee voucher by accessing the ebook. Please also reference the ESF Teacher Capability Framework and the IB Approaches to Learning & Teaching. To access Oracle PRD, click on the Oracle icon in Assembly.
As mentioned at our staff meeting, we are confident that PD will continue throughout the school year, and we all share the common targets of getting through 1) the IB evaluation and 2) community building.
Everyone also set their "personal goals" at the start of the school year, so we will revisit these during your check-in session.
You will be working with the same PRD coach as you did last year unless you've had a change in PD focus. We will share our schedule to arrange a check-in time in the upcoming weeks (PRD conversations/ targets set by 15 November).
