Please take a close look at the evaluation agenda for 21-23 Nov. Aside from meetings with the visiting team, other curriculum aspects such as parent participation and Chinese/non-contact days remain the same. If you have any wonderings or spot any clashes, please do bring it to our attention. Thank you!
Class Parent
We are trialling a Class Parent initiative this year. We appreciate it could look different for each class, but we hope it could benefit our community. So far, we’ve recruited one or two volunteers per class and still waiting to hear back from two classes.
Laura and I will meet with these parents on Tuesday to review our expectations. Here’s the Hillside Class Parent Guideline, which we will go through with the group.
We appreciate our parents are very busy, so we won’t be asking for a lot of their time. For example, we hope they can help send out event reminders e.g. dress-up day, picnic day. We will be providing them with some basic info like screenshots to “how-to access the reports.” We hope this additional avenue of communication will be helpful. It would be an extra bonus if they could encourage play dates or gatherings outside of school events.
Cleaner Update
A huge thank you to our amazing cleaners, Ah Ha, Fong Fong and Helen. They have been operating as a trio for a year, and we’ve finally secured a full-time 4th member. Her name is May, and she will start on 1 December.
I appreciate our current temporary cleaner, Ah Ying, has had lots of positive feedback. Unfortunately, she’s only staying in HK for a few months and cannot commit to a full-time contract. She will stay with us until the end of the month and possibly cover any cleaner absences until she leaves HK.
Christmas Appeal - Rebooked
To keep things simple, let’s do Rebooked again 😊For those of you who are new, we do an annual Christmas appeal. We would like it to be something our young children could understand and connect with, so we’ve gone with Rebooked, a non-profit social enterprise founded and managed by students! Their goal is to extend the shelf life of a book by providing a convenient and eco-friendly platform for books to be reused and enjoyed by other young readers. The books are also shared with NGOs and community partners as a way to support early literacy for underprivileged children.
Upcoming Dates
Please check our internal calendar below, as we might forget to remind everyone of odd dates. We will continue to add events to the calendar as soon as it's confirmed. Here's the full 2023/24 Calendar
