Good morning, all. We are fast approaching the end of term! Here are a few bits and bobs…

For this Week
Thursday - Last PYP EA PD, Oral Health Incursion, Ed Psych trainee Heiken To visits (AM)
Friday - K2 Celebration of Learning, No CP (we will use Tues, 18 June lunch to plan for Water Fun Day)

Jockey Club Oral Heath Project
Jockey Club Oral Health Project is visiting Hillside on Thursday, 13 June, to educate the K1s & K2s on proper oral hygiene through a diversified teaching approach, using a mix of workshops, games, and interactive activities.
Morning:
K2 assembly (2 classes at a time) - 9:10-9:40 / 9:50-10:20
K1 Open Play station (children come and go) ~10:25-10:55
Afternoon (same format):
K2 assembly - 1:25-1:55 / 2:05-2:35
K1 Open Play station ~2:40-3:10
Tentatively, two dentists and 2-3 supporting staff will come to the school to help set up the K1 Open Play stations during the assembly.

K2 Celebration of Learning
We’ve booked the Bradbury undercover area (outside Nurse Lauren’s office) as a holding area for parents as they wait before the ceremony.
Since we won’t have CP this Friday - floaters, please help direct parents and keep an eye out so they won’t wander into Bradbury space because it might clash with Bradbury break times.
Once the parents head upstairs, floaters, please help on the K1 floor to release any teachers and EAs who might want to pop down to see the ceremony. Thank you.

EA End-of-Year PRD check-ins
Laura and Brenda will be meeting EAs next week 17 / 20 June. Please check your time slot here, we will meet in the vault. In advance, please have a think about the following reflection questions:
  • In what ways have you professionally and personally grown this year?
  • Looking ahead to the coming school year, what exciting new opportunities or challenges do you anticipate for yourself, and how do you plan to navigate them?
  • In order to enhance your professional and personal growth, what specific actions are you taking, or might take, to prioritise your well-being and ensure you are taking care of yourself?

K1 to K2 Transition

Here's the Monday, 24 June K1 to K2 Handover schedule.

We will arrange for the K2 teacher to visit the K1 class and organise handover sessions for the K1 and K2 teachers.

Both K1 and K2 teachers will join any K1 IEP meetings that might take place during the second last week.

End of Year Social Confirmed

Location: CoCoNuts Thai Bar & Grill, G/F West Block, Island Rd, Deep Water Bay

Time: Thursday, 27 June, ~4:30pm; Kwoon Chung will arrange a bus to take us there after school.

Induction Sites

A warm reminder: please review the induction sites (K1 Site, K2 Site) and consider creating a new greeting video to welcome your new class. Feel free to use the existing story or create a new one. Kindly share your video HERE before 16 June; otherwise, we will continue using the current video.

Incoming Admissions

A quick update: We have yet to fill out all the incoming places for both K1s and K2s. There will be two play visit days in the last week of June. This could mean your classes might not be full upon returning from summer.

Acceptance of Gifts

A warm reminder when children in your class (and their parents) may wish to show their appreciation to you in the form of a gift.  As kind as this is, there are specific protocols we must follow to safeguard you all against any possible allegations of 'Acceptance of Advantage.'

The ESF Policy on this can be found HERE.  The relevant extract states:

(a) small gifts by an individual pupil or parent, provided the value of the gift does not generally exceed HK$500; (b) larger gifts given collectively by pupils or parents provided the value of the gift does not generally exceed HK$3000;

If you receive a gift that may exceed the values mentioned above, you must fill out this request for permission form and send it to me.  Please note that if the gift far exceeds the permitted values above, you may be asked to return the gift politely.

Fire Drill (Postponed to Friday, 21 June)

A heads up that we planned a fire drill in both the AM and PM sessions. Please make a note of this date and review our Evacuation Procedures. The times will be around 9:10am and 1:20pm. We will evacuate out to our playground and line up by class. Thank you.
