EduHK Students Visit
This morning (Monday), Brenda will be hosting a lecture for a group of students from Education University for their current course in middle leadership, with a specific focus on the PYP and international education. Please note this will be in the resource room, so there will be limited access to materials during the AM session. The students and their professor will tour Hillside during lunchtime. Thank you for accommodating their visit!
Upcoming Staff Meetings
A quick note about our upcoming lunch meetings as we head into Lunar New Year. I've added these to the Google Calendar, so please check it out.
For this Tuesday, I might not have enough time to whip up slides, but I'd love for us to chat about safety protocols, open playtime, and the new "community play" concept. We also mentioned running some sessions on documentation to showcase observable impact, and we've pencilled that in for January now due to scheduling.
Parent Webinar: All You Want to Know About Speech Development
Imogen from Imagine Speech-Language Pathology ran a fantastic webinar for parents that was informative and easy to understand. Please pass this along to any parents who might be interested, as we didn't have a huge turnout online. She talked about typical and atypical communication development in our kindergarten-aged kiddos and what to look out for. She even shared some helpful tips on maximising your child's communicative potential. You can find her slides HERE and recording HERE.
Shared Learning Day on Friday
Please support our K1 team as we are thrilled to invite parents to our first Shared Learning Day, scheduled for 29 November, for all classes. This is a wonderful chance for parents to dive into their child's learning as part of our current unit, "Sharing the Planet." Here are the key details:
- Families will be coming in groups and using all staircases to head upstairs. Their start times are 9am, 10am, 11am, and 1pm, 2pm, 3pm.
- Each family will have a 45-minute slot and will exit via the walker staircase.
- We invite up to two grown-ups (parents and caregivers welcome!) to join their child for the Shared Learning Day.
- Non-uniform/casual dress: Children can wear their own clothes to school.
- Also, there will be no bus service for K1s on that day.
