Thank You to the K1 Team

I want to thank the K1 team for the fantastic shared learning day we hosted last Friday. It was truly a wonderful experience for the families, and I appreciate all the effort that went into making it a success. We received many positive feedback from parents, with many expressing their gratitude for the invitation.

When I thanked Fong Fong and Helen, they shared their thoughts on the day. To paraphrase them, "The planning and activities were 'very good,' it was clear that the teachers and EAs put a lot of thought into everything. We reminded parents to make sure they enjoy all the areas!" This kind of feedback highlights the impact of our collaborative efforts and the dedication you all bring to our community.

EA Interviews on Tuesday

We will be conducting some Educational Assistant (EA) interviews on Tuesday to help backfill our opening. As part of the process, we will be bringing the candidates onto the floor to observe them in action. If anyone is interested in joining the Learning Enhancement Team (LET) and supporting children with diverse needs across all classes, please feel free to come and chat with us.

JCSRS Opening Event

On a different note, I had the pleasure of attending an opening event at JCSRS last week to celebrate the completion of Phase 1 of their impressive renovation project. The event included tours of the new learning spaces and the students' heartwarming performance of Mulan. One highlight was the speech from the PTA Chair, who delivered a powerful message about the diverse backgrounds of the parents and how they are united by their shared stories, dreams, and hopes for their children at the school.

Here's a short film that illustrates its impact on students at JCSRS. You might recognise a few familiar faces in it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9OPdI_ye7k

Safety Procedures

Thank you for participating in last week's refresher on safety procedures at school. Your engagement is important in ensuring a safe and effective response during incidents, which helps maintain a calm environment and swiftly addresses student needs.

Please keep in mind the following three key points:

  1. Immediate Actions: What steps should be taken right away?
  2. Communication: Who should be notified (class teacher, parents, emergency services)?
  3. Preventative Measures: What strategies can we implement to prevent similar incidents in the future?

Here are the incident report examples. Your commitment to safety is greatly appreciated!

K1 Admissions - 12 December

The 12 December will be ESF-wide K1 Admissions Day (No school for existing children). We will hold play visits during the day in four classrooms. Please refer to the HSK Playvisit Guidance. We will go over the plans in next week's staff meeting.

We ask all teachers and non-class-based colleagues to help.
