Safeguarding and Child Protection
Thank you for your participation last Tuesday. As professionals dedicated to the well-being of the children in our care, we must adhere to legal and professional guidelines that underscore our duty to protect all children from harm.
As a first responder, your primary responsibilities include gathering essential information, such as:
- Is the child safe?
- Is there a concern of abuse?
- Do they require medical attention?
- To provide support to the child
- Report to CPO and document concern
Please find the Safeguarding & Child Protection slides from our lunchtime meeting attached here for your reference.
Please remember, should any aspect of this trigger difficult memories and/or emotions please feel free to contact Audrey or Laura.
Kindly note that if you receive an SMS reminder from the Hong Kong Police regarding the renewal of your SCRC, we ask you to schedule the renewal appointment at your earliest convenience and inform us once it is arranged.
Wednesday - Family Beach Picnic @ Repulse Bay
Each class will run their own activities, whether a fun social mingle, a little sing-along or games and building sand castles. We'll also get some candy canes, festive face paint stencils and tattoos for each class to enjoy!
- Bake Sale - the class parents are baking cakes, brownies, and cookies for us. Our admin team will be crewing the bale sale station near the middle of the picnic area.
- First Aid - Jaz will have some basic first aid items at the bake sale station. The beach’s first aid station is located between the toilets and Limewood.
- Photobooth Station - SLT will put together an Instagram-worthy station for photo-ops😎
Thursday - K1 Admissions & General Tidy
The 12 December will be ESF-wide K1 Admissions Day (No school for existing children). We will hold play visits during the day in four classrooms. Please refer to the HSK Playvisit Guidance. A separate email will follow with details and links.
Class EAs - we would ask you to help with the end-of-term "tidying-up" process. Open cabinets, tidy items, and return them to their original/ designated place. You will need to work in teams to get through everything. Please refer to the “to-do” list here, many many thanks 🙇
Friday - Observable Impact Sharing
Let’s gather around 10am on Friday morning to share our OI progress:
“At this point, we were hoping to observe..."
We will ask each team to describe a SUCCESS, and a STRUGGLE. Brainstorm a possible SUPPORT and share next STEPS.
General Housekeeping and Facilities Updates
Deep Cleaning and Pest Control
The entire school will undergo deep cleaning on 30 and 31 December. Please avoid coming to school on these days. The cleaning company will steam clean the carpets. They will also clean the light fixtures, windows, and air-conditioners. Please remove any displays in your classroom that you don't want to be damaged.
IT Assets
Please return all laptops, iPad minis, and chargers to Vks by Friday noon. Jeff will need to upgrade the iOS over the holidays.
Facilities
We will replace the wooden door at the back (the hard-to-push one), the walker entrance fire door and some paint touch-ups for the walls.
Upcoming Dates
Please check our internal calendar below. We might forget to remind everyone of odd dates. We will continue to add events as soon as they're confirmed.
Here's the full 2024/25 Calendar and DRAFT 2025/26 Calendar.
