Temperature Control
We recently learnt that there are some issues with our air-con contractor/ ESF contract 😩 So we haven’t been able to make any heating arrangements.

We have ordered additional portable heaters if needed, please ask admin for help.

New Socials

At the recent conference, the ESF Communications Team unveiled a first look at the new ESF school websites. We invite you all to explore our new website and social media platforms on Facebook and Instagram. An official launch for parents is scheduled for later this week.

Additionally, we will be introducing our new chatbot Hillside Wiz Chatbot (Beta) for parents this week. This handy tool will assist them in finding information based on our parent handbook, making it easier for everyone to stay informed. Feedback is welcome, so we can continue to train and feed the bot with new information.

Upcoming PD Opportunities

  • Doug Goodkin, renowned Orff Music educator
March 8-9, venue TBC, register on Gateway.
This workshop introduces a powerful, intuitive approach to music education that closely aligns with the IB's emphasis on student agency, creativity and transdisciplinary learning. Emphasis will be on how to teach more 'musically', so that each class is like a piece of music with an enticing beginning, connected middle and satisfying end, while ensuring one’s curriculum has a harmonious shape and design. Drawing on the Orff Schulwerk methodology, which recognises and cultivates each child's innate musicality, teachers will develop practical skills and strategies for delivering engaging and inclusive music education, develop their practice, and open up exciting new learning approaches relevant to all learning phases.

Vision and Hearing Screening Update

Screenings can help identify vision and hearing problems early, which is crucial for effective treatment and support. Undetected vision or hearing problems can also significantly affect a child's ability to learn. Thus screenings at school are essential for fostering a supportive educational environment and ensuring that all children have the opportunity to succeed.

We strive to schedule all screenings well in advance to minimize any conflicts. However, the services we collaborate with have had to reschedule due to personal and business commitments. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility in this matter, and we assure you that we always do our best to accommodate everyone. Please check the Hillside Staff calendar for the new vision screening dates in March. Thank you for your continued support!

All Staff Conference Recap from Viva Engage

What a brilliant visual recap of our ESF All-Staff Conference! Our talented colleague, Christopher Gadbury, a Visual Arts Teacher at ESF Renaissance College, has masterfully captured the energy, highlights, and unforgettable moments in this super cool and super detailed collage. From Belinda’s buffalo to Keon’s memorable tie—and the many faces that tell the story of the day.

Our keynote speaker, Dr Adam Fraser, delivered an engaging session on how small behaviours can drive meaningful cultural change. With over 20 years of research, he shared that human behaviour is contagious, and aligning our actions with our values can transform our organisational culture.

What positive ripples should you create more of? What negative ones must you stop?"

Thank you for participating in our first all staff conference! We hope you found the day enjoyable and insightful. Your feedback is important to ESF, so please take a moment to complete the feedback form.
