Morning all!
For this Week
K2 PTC Week
Tuesday: Fire Drill (9:05/1:20), weather permitting | K1 Author visit
Friday: BS K2-Y1 transition visits
PTC Arrangements
Due to space limitations, we will need to utilise the library and resources room for our upcoming PTCs. With multiple therapy spaces required, we would greatly appreciate it if library book exchanges could be accommodated in your classrooms.
Please note that Vks and Jasmine will be available to assist with parent phone calls or any issues that may arise on the day.
Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS)
A few of our colleagues recently attended training on Dr. Ross Greene's Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS) model. This evidence-based approach reframes how we understand and respond to concerning behaviours, using a collaborative problem-solving strategy that addresses the root causes with the child.
His model serves as a reminder that, as adults, we don't always know best. Children naturally want to do well when they can, and we should collaborate with them to develop strategies or solutions to address the unsolved problems or challenges to meet expectations. Linking back to our shared instructional challenge of self-regulation from the Observable Impact, let's consider what we can change or shift in our daily practice.
I encourage you to watch this short 6-minute CPS animation in advance (select the first video on the left). Additional resources can be found via this link for those who would like to learn more.
REMINDER: Handling Accidents and Incidents
When teachers are away, attending professional development, out of the classroom for non-contact time, or in CP meetings, please ensure that the colleague in charge handles any accidents or injuries first. If needed, they can reach out to a member of the SLT for assistance during the session and before the child goes home. Always aim to inform parents before they see the injury, and then for them to contact us first. After addressing the situation, please ensure the class teacher is informed to keep them in the loop.
Filling in an incident form is crucial for effective reporting and response. We've created this cheat sheet to support you in writing the incident details.
REMEMBER: It is an expectation to fill in a form when:
If the injured child needs emergency medical care - e.g. Calling an ambulance.
If the injured child requires immediate follow-up medical care e.g. Parents called to collect the child and are recommended to go to A&E/ GP/ Outpatients.
Any head or face bumps/injuries. Please also take a picture of the bump and upload it onto Gateway, as these bumps can develop over time.
Inform parents as soon as possible
If unsure, please check with SLT before calling parents. SLT can always help in completing the accident form and communicating with the parents.
Always call the parents before the child gets home, especially for any face or head bump/ injury.
Upcoming Dates
Please check our internal calendar below. We might forget to remind everyone of odd dates. We will continue to add events as soon as they're confirmed. Here's the full 2024/25 Calendar and DRAFT 2025/26 Calendar.
Thank you!
