Morning all,
K1s are starting their 3-hour sessions today! 💪🏼
Thank you everyone for your ongoing commitment and teamwork. Apologies a bit of a long message this week, please let me know if you have any questions. Have a great week ahead!
For This Week
- Monday: Phase II of Staff Declarations—please complete these on Gateway.
- Tuesday: Staff Meeting at 12:00 (focus: OI Work).
OI Work
Thank you for your input last week. Based on the Menti votes, our top three Student Observables are:
- Emotion-regulation: Students can calm themselves in high-emotion situations.
- Social awareness: Students interact with others, recognising feelings, taking turns, and noticing when someone needs help or space.
- Play and engagement: Students join group games, share toys, follow pretend play “rules”, and invite others to join in.
We’ll continue our discussions on S-E-T and Pyramid Planning during Tuesday's meeting. Please reflect on what you’ve seen so far in your class and bring any observations or ideas.
Teaching Children About Neurodiversity
The ESF Educational Psychology team have been focusing on promoting understanding of brain differences and neurodiversity-affirming practice within our schools.
A key part of this involves helping students to understand different learning styles and preferences, along with their own individual strengths and stretches. In order to help with this, the EP team have developed a slide deck with some suggested visuals and activities to help teachers introduce the concept of neurodiversity to children at earlier stages of development.
Please find the attached slide deck linked here. Please feel free to adapt for your class as you deem appropriate. We hope you find this to be a useful resource that you can revisit throughout the year!
New Colleagues Next Door
A quick update—Bradbury now has a new School Nurse, Candy Yung, and a new School Counsellor, Cathy Tong.
Resource Ordering Clarification
There is no set budget per class each month. We have a lump sum budget for the whole school, which also covers in/excursion costs. Monthly consumables are shared from this same pot, so please be mindful that we are chipping away at a shared resource.
Important:
- Auditors prefer all orders through school accounts. Whenever possible, please order via admin. If unsure, check with Jaz.
- For anything over $500, please check first.
- All claims go through the staff reimbursement system. Amounts must be in HK dollars (HK$). If you need to convert, use the Oanda website as requested by head office.
Thank you for your flexibility!
Prospective K1 2026/27
Applications for next year’s K1 open 1–30 September. SLT will host a webinar for prospective families next Tuesday afternoon, with school tours after school starting at 4:15pm. Please set up your classrooms after school for the tour. If anyone is free to hang around and help after school, please let us know. Many thanks!
Data Privacy
There have been several data breaches across the system, so ESF will be reviewing and auditing file settings. Please review your “Anyone with links” settings and turn off any unnecessary sharing.
A warm reminder to log out of work accounts on home devices, especially for Google Photos, to prevent any accidental sharing of children’s images.
Transport Change Report (Bus Riders)
We’ve reminded parents about the correct process via the Hub.
If a child’s transport arrangement changes (e.g., bus to walker), parents must:
- Submit requests before 10:30am (AM) / 2:30pm (PM) via the ESF Hub.
- Select “WALKER” (not the usual bus number) to indicate pick-up.
- For urgent changes after these times, they must call us at 2540 0066.
This helps keep all children safe at home time.
New QBS Kindergarten
We’ve informed K1 parents via the Hub about the new ESF kindergarten opening in Kornhill in August 2026. Children moving to the new QBS Kindergarten for K2 will be guaranteed a Year 1 place at QBS.
There will be an information webinar for interested parents on 23 September at 7pm. Please share this with any families who may have questions.
Upcoming Dates
Please check our internal calendar below. We might forget to remind everyone of odd dates. We will continue to add events as soon as they're confirmed.
Here's the full 2025/26 Calendar.
Thank you!
