Morning everyone,
For this Week
Monday: Parent Reporting Focus Group
Wednesday: Public Holiday
Friday: Dress-up Day (not necessarily Halloween-related)
ESF has just published our latest five-year strategy – our Vision for 2030.
It sets our future direction and is, without question, groundbreaking in its approach. This vision reinforces the way of working we discussed at the All-Staff Conference and in the follow-up dialogue sessions.
Our shared priorities are:
Belonging, Engagement, and Personalisation.
The strategy document, along with a range of supporting materials, is now available on Assembly.
As you know, we have two teaching positions coming up for the new academic year. I know many of you are keen to hear about progress; this is understandably close to all our hearts.
We’ve received close to 100 applications across the mainscale teaching post and maternity cover. Many applicants have strong early years experience, including some with leadership backgrounds from Hong Kong international early years settings.
We have shortlisted around 12 external candidates, in addition to our internal candidates. Interviews will take place over the next few weeks. Thank you for your patience as we go through this process thoughtfully.
Please note the OPRS mid-term break will start from Monday, 27 October to Friday, 31 October 2025.
All classes, individual training and therapy programs (in the school or at the centre) will be suspended during this period and will resume on 3 November 2025 (Monday).
Due to the typhoon, Amy (OT therapist) has arranged make-up sessions with the children on Thursday, 30 October.
We’ve now recruited one or two Class Parent volunteers per class, and are waiting to confirm two remaining classes.
Laura and I will meet with these volunteers on Monday, 10 November, to go through role expectations and answer any questions.
We appreciate our parents’ busy schedules, so we’re keeping the role light. Class Parents will mainly help by sending reminders about events (like dress-up or picnic days). We’ll also provide them with some guidance, such as screenshots showing how to access reports.
This extra communication channel should strengthen home–school connections. It would be a bonus if Class Parents could encourage playdates or informal gatherings outside of school events.
We’ll have a Parent Focus Group working session on Monday morning on Understanding Your Child’s Learning at School.
We will explore:
- What information parents value most
- What additional information would be helpful
- Different formats for sharing learning that feel useful and easy to understand
We have 18 parents joining this session. I’m very excited to hear their feedback — but even more so, to share our philosophy and approach as a school. We will keep you posted on the developments.
Upcoming Dates
Please check our internal calendar below. We might forget to remind everyone of odd dates. We will continue to add events as soon as they're confirmed.
Here's the full 2025/26 Calendar.
Thank you!
