Morning all, I can't believe it's March already! Four weeks until Easter 🐣

PTC Arrangements

As space is limited, we’ll be using the library and resource room as Zoom spaces.
Therapy sessions will move to outside the resource room for these two weeks.

We would really appreciate it if library book exchanges could take place in your classrooms when the library is not available. An extra laptop for book borrowing is available in the office.

Jasmine and Vicky will be available to assist with parent phone calls or any issues that come up on the day.

Safeguarding Update – Staff Children

As you all know, we are a family‑friendly school. We value strong parent participation and are equally supportive when staff need flexibility to attend events for their own children. Likewise, if staff children would like to visit Hillside and spend time here, we are supportive of this in principle.

However, from a safeguarding perspective, please remember:

  • Staff children are considered visitors/volunteers.
  • They must wear a visitor badge.
  • They must not be in children’s toilets alone with students.
  • They must always be accompanied by a staff member.

Moving forward, we will also include staff children as visitors in our daily broadcast for awareness.

In addition, if you see a Bradbury student unattended at Hillside, please bring them to the office immediately. We will ensure they are safely escorted back to Bradbury.

Please remember that our Child Protection Officers (Audrey and Laura) are available should you have any questions or concerns.

Online Learning Update

Thank you for the initial discussion last week regarding online learning and continuity during inclement weather closures.

With PTCs taking place across this week and next, I will take this discussion offline and draft some practical templates and guiding ideas to bring back to the team before Easter.

My initial thinking:

  • Incorporate a live Zoom touchpoint to maintain connection
  • Keep asynchronous options simple and manageable
  • Provide flexibility for families

Here are the ESF guiding documents: Inclement Weather Policy & Expectations for Online Learning.

More to follow — thank you for engaging so constructively in this area.

Impact Walks

Thank you to colleagues who have volunteered to join the Impact Walk at Tsing Yi on Wednesday morning. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to attend due to Belinda’s visit, and I am confirming who will step in.

On Thursday, the Tsing Yi team will visit us to focus on self‑regulation within our environment. Please refer to the Hillside Impact Walk document for your reference.

Learning Diversity Resources

Thank you to Laura and Michelle for developing the planning pyramid for each class.

A gentle reminder that pyramid planning supports us to think about:

  • Universal strategies (for all learners)
  • Targeted strategies (for some learners)
  • Essential support (for a few learners)

It also prompts us to reflect on:

  • Classroom strategies
  • Our own professional learning needs
  • How we support parents to extend learning at home

Please refer again to the ESF holistic 3D approach to personalised learning for alignment with this work.

Do make use of the Learning Diversity resources in our Google Drive, and please reach out to Laura or the LET team if you would like to create additional resources or simply talk through an idea.

Professional Reflection & Development (PRD)

You will have seen the Oracle PRD mentioned in the recent HR newsletter.
It's time for our Term 2 check-in.

Teachers: Please use this link to schedule a check-in session with me any time before Easter. https://calendly.com/audrey-tang

EAs: We will set a later date and arrange cover for your check-ins, as we have in the past. However, if you have any urgent questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out sooner. You don’t need to wait for a formal PRD session to share feedback or raise concerns.

Upcoming Dates
Please check our internal calendar below. We might forget to remind everyone of odd dates. We will continue to add events as soon as they're confirmed. Here's the full 2025/26 Calendar.

Thank you!
